Katherine Walters Loyacano graduated from the University of New Orleans (UNO) in 1991 with a B.A. in Drama and Communications. After working a couple of years in television and advertising, Katherine decided to return to UNO and earned a Certificate in Elementary Education. While teaching, she did freelance work in tv production (mainly directing live art/merchandise auctions) for WYES-TV.
In August 2010, Katherine decided to take a break from teaching to work more in the television industry and explore opportunities in film. She took an acting class with Veleka Gray and caught the acting bug. She considers herself an actor in training and currently studies with actor Lance Nichols, who has a recurring role as Dr. Larry Williams on the HBO television series TREME.
Recently, Katherine completed her first speaking role as “Didi” in HOTCAKES. She has worked as a background actor and as a zombie on the film PROJECT Z, produced by Kristopher Hoffman and M. Jearl Vinot.
Katherine lives in Hammond, Louisiana with her husband and two sons.
