In our modern, urban Western, three men with very different lives and desires sit to eat a few short stacks together and subsequently find themselves increasingly more responsible for each other. All 17 pages of the final script were shot between November 27 and December 1 and are now in the final stages of post-production.

Our test screening was held January 28; our Kickstarter campaign succeeded on February 3rd; editor and co-producer Bob Krieger and writer/director/producer Jo Custer achieved picture lock February 24, after two pick up shots were incorporated. Finally, our deadline for completion is set for March 24 and our premiere for March 28.

Along with a highly selective film fest submissions process, Hotcakes will be screened at several places in the Greater New Orleans area and beyond. Since its reception by cast members and audience members alike, a second film has been conceived as the next installment in what we’re now calling the Short Stack Series. Sonuvabitch is in treatment form right now and will, with any luck, be shot in May.
